In addition to the complete ownership acquired by Pete Pancel, the company has developed an alliance with Advanced Green Compliance Solutions (www.goagc.com), a business solutions company that will complement the products from All Source USA with solutions for financing, marketing, merchant banking options, and other services. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to spend ten bucks on a pair of American made socks, when I can get 10 pairs for the same price that are made overseas. Who does? I know those 10 pairs of socks from Indonesia are low quality, but who cares? It’s only a buck.
As business owners in troubled times, we need to make every penny towards our bottom line count. But what happens if we continue to make the problem bigger? Part of the root of these troubled times is the flood of money being sent overseas. The money we spend to manufacture overseas doesn’t come back. Everyone has heard the stories of people overseas making .50 cents a day, for 12 hours of working in, let’s say, a sock factory. Put a load of socks into a container, sell it to an American company who sells 10 pairs for 10 bucks and makes a pretty profit. How could any American manufacturer compete against that business model? Here we need to pay big taxes, overheads and fair wages that sustain a reasonable lifestyle for our employees. Why not just take the easy money and get a sock plant set up overseas?
We shouldn’t support this because every manufacturing job supports a larger number of jobs behind it. What happens when those overseas companies have no more manufacturing to compete with? Those low quality sock guys have no competition and the prices go up. Way up. Because our plants are overseas, nobody has jobs to buy socks anymore. Maybe it’s time for a bit of protectionism!
We are seeing a huge movement in America. People are realizing that buying product from overseas is killing our manufacturing industry and killing the jobs attached to it. I think that’s why the Buy American movement is so strong; people are watching their families lose their homes and jobs and they are getting fed up. It’s time to stand up! Buy American made products, keep our money in our country, so we can spend it and grow our country.
Buying overseas sucks… I mean socks…
