22 Oct Election Resources
The 2020 election year has brought all sorts of new challenges for election officials all over North America. The reality of COVID-19 means that election officials have to find creative and innovative ways to ensure that voters can safely cast their ballots, while also preserving the integrity of local elections. Whether you are a voter, election official, or running for office, you want to know that all ballots cast in 2020 are safe and secure.
Mail-in ballots, where permitted, are among the safest options, but many voters and candidates for office also enjoy the comfort of physically placing ballots in a locked collection container, at a permanent of mobile polling place. Many states and provinces will be utilizing ‘ballot drop boxes’ (BDBs) to allow voters to cast their ballots in a safe and socially-distanced manner, either from the comfort of their vehicles, or by attending an in-person polling place with social distancing measures in place.
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) provides a number of BDB options for election officials. As a manufacturer and distributor of security containers, All Source has the tools you need to ensure that your voters, election staff, and the ballots themselves are safe and secure using EAC guidelines.
Ergo Duraflex Consoles
If you are considering a BDB in an indoor, permanent location, All Source recommends our Ergo Duraflex Consoles. Available in 24” and 36” models, their built-in metal striker and anti-pry device ensures that breaking into the console is not an option, and its self-closing lock provides peace-of-mind that your ballots are safe and secure. Duraflex Consoles come with an internal bag to collect ballots, or can be upgraded to include an Ergonomic Rigid insert (36” model only). When full, or at the end of the day, the bag or insert can easily be removed and emptied into another secure storage container (such as the Defender Series Carts). Ergo Duraflex consoles are also sturdy and durable, and at 46lbs for the 36” model, they are difficult to move and tamper with once put into place.
Shredinator and PDCs
For permanent, semi-permanent, or mobile BDBs, our Shredinators come in 24”, 27”, and 30” models, and Personal Document Containers (PDCs) are just 12”, perfect for desktop or desk-side usage. They both feature a molded paper slot for ballots and a double-turn lock for safety and security. At less than 9 lbs for even the largest Shredinator, both container solutions can be easily moved to different locations to allow for mobile BDBs, or to be moved to a safe storage place as needed. They are also a light-weight option for drive-through voting locations, so election workers can easily bring the box directly to the voter’s vehicle. When full, or at the end of the day, they can be easily emptied into another secure storage container (such as the Defender Series Carts).
Defender Series Carts
Available in 32, 65, and 95 gallon sizes, our wheeled carts are a great option for permanent, semi-permanent, or mobile BDBs. They can also be utilized as a larger collection cart for mobile ballot collection teams for daily collection of ballots cast into Ergo Duraflex, Shredinators, and PDC ballot boxes. They are available with two locking systems: a hasp lock that utilizes a padlock, or our patented internal Lockjaw locking system. We also offer a high-security lid with Lockjaw for extra peace of mind.
